Around the Dinner Table

Every time the topic of snowboarding arises, I awkwardly avoid the subject. I’ve always felt a separation between people who go to the mountain to ski and people who go to the mountain to drink hot chocolate and sit in hot tubs. Since I started my internship at Pop Outerwear, I realized that I can both learn to snowboard and sit in the hot tub. The most important thing is trying something new, having fun and enjoying the ride.

One Friday evening, I had an interesting conversation with five friends. The topic of nostalgia for snowy winters came up when discussing the Berkeley/San Francisco weather. We brainstormed the idea of hitting the slopes and spending a long weekend in Tahoe.  After five minutes of snowboarding conversation, I was the first person to admit I had never set foot on a snowboard.  I was met by three relieved responses followed by comments of bunny hills.

I look forward to learning this new skill, but most of all I am excited to go and experience Tahoe’s winter together.
